New Delhi: Ration Card: There is good news for ration card holders. Now banking services will also be available at ration shops. For this, preparations are being made by the government.

Banking services will be available at 800 shops

In fact, banking services will also be made available in ration shops or public distribution depots in Kerala from next month. Public Distribution Department sources told IANS that out of more than 14,000 shops in the state, about 800 shops will have banking services.

4 banks showed interest in providing the facility

Sources said that four banks have shown interest in providing the service. For this electronic point of sale will be set up. Kerala Food and Public Supplies Minister G.R. Anil will hold a meeting with officials and interested banks in this regard in the first week of May.

Apart from this, plans are also being made to start electricity bill payment, water bill payment service in ration shops.

The Minister of State told IANS that the plan is still being worked out and the department is planning to make the shops more user-friendly.

Facility of mobile ration shops will also be given

Facility of mobile ration shops will be provided in tribal dominated villages. He told that the number of ration shops providing banking services will be increased to one thousand in a year.
