October Public Holidays 2025: The month of October is full of holidays. These holidays have been declared for different days in the states. However, in some states, school holidays have been extended till November 2.
While in Uttar Pradesh, there will be 5-day Diwali holidays. Schools across the state will reopen on October 24. Two more holidays have been announced after the Diwali holidays. Schools and colleges across the state will remain closed on October 28 and October 30.
Chhath Puja holiday on October 28
Chhath Puja is a great festival of worship of Lord Sun, which is celebrated with great pomp and show in various states of the country. This festival is celebrated with great devotion and faith in Uttar Pradesh as well as Bihar, Jharkhand and many states of Eastern India. Devotees celebrate this festival on this day according to customs and traditions. On this occasion, there is a holiday in government offices, schools and most educational institutions. All government and private schools in Uttar Pradesh will be closed on Tuesday, October 28. A government holiday has been declared on this day.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Jayanti holiday on October 31
The birth anniversary of the country’s Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel will be celebrated across the country on October 31. Remembering his contribution to the unity and integrity of the country, this day will be celebrated as National Unity Day. As per government orders, a holiday has been declared in all government offices, educational institutions and local bodies on this day. Along with all government schools in the state, there will also be a holiday in private schools and educational institutions.
Holidays included in the official list
Both the holidays have been included in the list of Uttar Pradesh government. In the notification issued by the government, these two dates have been included as additional government holidays. Earlier, Diwali, Dussehra holidays were announced. Now Chhath Puja on October 28 and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Jayanti on Friday, October 31 have been included in the list of government holidays. During this time, all schools, colleges, banks and educational institutions will remain closed.
