PM- SYM: The government had launched the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana in 2019 with the aim of providing social security in old age in the form of monthly pension.



 

Under the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) pension scheme, about 46 lakh workers of the unorganized sector have registered. The Labor Ministry said this in a statement. The government had launched the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana in 2019 with the aim of providing social security in old age in the form of monthly pension. Under this scheme, workers in the unorganized sector will be provided a minimum assured monthly pension of Rs 3,000 after the age of 60.

According to the Ministry of Labor, as on November 25, 2021, a total of 45,77,295 workers of the unorganized sector have registered under the scheme.

Installment will be from 55 to 200 rupees
In this scheme, there is a provision of monthly contribution of Rs 55 to Rs 200 according to different ages. If you join this scheme at the age of 18, then you will have to contribute Rs 55 every month. At the same time, those of 30 years will have to contribute Rs 100 and those of 40 years will have to contribute Rs 200.

Register like this
For registration in the Pradhan Mantri Shramyogi Maandhan Pension Scheme, one has to visit the nearest CSC center. After this, the Aadhar card and savings account or Jan Dhan account will have to be given along with the IFSC code. Passbook, check book or bank statement can be shown as proof. You can also enter a nominee at the time of opening the account.

Income should be less than 15 thousand rupees
To get the benefit of this scheme, you must have a savings account. Apart from this, you must also have Aadhar card. The minimum investment age in this is 18 years and maximum is 40 years. Apart from this, the bank will have to give a consent letter. Those laborers who are not taking advantage of any other government scheme can also take advantage of this scheme. The monthly income of the laborer applying in this scheme should be less than 15000 rupees.

Who can take advantage of the scheme
This scheme will be applicable only to those working in the unorganized sector. These include house workers, street vendors, drivers, plumbers, tailors, mid-day meal workers, rickshaw drivers, construction workers, rag pickers, bidi makers, handlooms, agricultural workers, cobblers, washermen, Leather workers etc.

They will not benefit
Individuals working in the organized sector or members of Employees’ Provident Fund (EPFO), National Pension Scheme (NPS) or State Employees Insurance Corporation (ESIC) or paying income tax are not eligible for this scheme.
