The Prime Minister said that this ration available under this scheme helps the poor in times of epidemic. This scheme is running for one year, so that no poor person goes to bed hungry. The Prime Minister said that now the poor feel that whatever happens, the country is with them.
Prime Minister Modi said, “Gujarat government has brought every scheme on the ground with service in the interest of our sisters, our farmers, our poor families. Today, under PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, free ration is distributed to lakhs of families of Gujarat. being done.”
He said, “Since independence, almost every government had talked about providing cheap food to the poor. The scope and budget of cheap ration schemes increased year after year, but the effect it should have had remained limited.
What is PM Garib Kalyan Yojana?

Which was later extended on several occasions. At present it has been decided to extend it till Deepawali.
Under this announcement, 5 kg rice / wheat and 1 kg gram are being provided by the government every month to the migrant laborers of the country who do not have ration cards. The Government of India will spend more than Rs 26,000 crore on this initiative.
Who gets the benefit of this scheme?
To get the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana, it is mandatory for you to have a ration card. According to the number of people whose names are registered in the ration card, five kilos of food grains are provided to all. Suppose the names of 4 people are registered in the ration card, then everyone will get 5-5 kg i.e. total 20 kg food grains. This grain will be different from the grain you get every month. The government ration shop from which you take your food grains. The food grains available under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana will also be available from there.
Workers can use their old ration card even after moving from one state to another. That is, government ration can be bought from one ration card in another state as well. The central government has clarified that there is no need to make a new ration card. Under the ‘One Nation, One Ration’ card scheme, the old ration card will continue to run. After updating it will be valid across the country.
