New Delhi. There is good news for Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) account holders. For the financial year 2020-21, interest at the rate of 8.50 percent has been deposited in 23.34 crore accounts. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) gave information about this by tweeting. The tweet read, “8.50% interest has been deposited in 23.34 crore accounts for the financial year 2020-21.”


Explain that EPF account holders can check Provident Fund (PF) balance from the comfort of their homes. Don’t panic if you don’t know how to check it. Here we are giving you step wise complete information.

How to check by SMS

If your Universal Account Number (UAN) has been registered through your KYC process then you can know your PF balance details through a message. Type EPFOHO UAN ENG in your mobile, the last three characters indicate your language. In the language in which you want to receive the message, you have to write three letters of that language at the end. After this you send this message to the number 7738299899. After which you will get the details of PF balance in a short time.

How to get balance details by missed call

If your UAN is integrated with your KYC details then give a missed call on toll-free number 011-22901406. After the call, you will receive an SMS showing all your PF account details.

How to check with Umang app


First of all, you open the UMANG app and proceed by clicking on EPFO. You have to click on the Employee Service option given here. Then you click on ‘Employee-Centered Services’, which will redirect the user to a new page. Then, click on ‘View Passbook’ and enter the UAN and One-Time Password (OTO), which will be sent to the registered mobile of the account holder. After this EPF members will be able to check EPF balance. Apart from all this, you can check PF balance by visiting the official website of EPFO, epfindia.gov.in.

How to check EPF balance without UAN number

  • Log on to the EPF home page of epfindia.gov.in.
  • Click on ‘Click here to know your EPF balance’.
  • You have to visit epfoservices.in/epfo/, go to “member balance information”.
  • Now select your state and click on your EPFO ​​office link.
  • Enter your PF account number, name and registered mobile number.
  • After that click on ‘Submit’ and your PF balance will be displayed.
