Documents required for passport
Some important documents are required for passport. It depends on whether you are applying through normal process or Tatkal. These documents are demanded which include ID proof, Aadhar card, Voter ID, PAN card, Driving license, Address proof, Electricity bill, Bank statement (last 1 year), Ration card, Passbook DOB proof, 10th mark sheet and passport size photo (recently taken).
Easy process to make passport online
- For this, first go to the passport service portal. Click on this website link. passportindia.gov.in, this is the official portal of the Government of India.
- To create a new account, click on New User Registration. Enter your name, email, password, city and mobile number.
- After registration, a link will be sent to your email. Click on it to activate your account.
- Login and fill the form. Click on Apply for Fresh Passport/Reissue. Fill in the details asked in the form like name, address, parents’ name, education, emergency contact number etc.
- After doing all this, scan the required documents and upload them. Keep in mind that the documents should be clearly scanned and in the correct format (PDF or JPEG).
- Book an Appointment Now. Select the nearest Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or POPSK (Post Office Passport Seva Kendra).
- Select the available date and time slot. Pay the fees online. You can pay through debit/credit card or net banking.
- Visit the PSK and take the original documents. Your biometric details and photo will be taken there. You will get a file number through which you can track your passport status online.
In how many days will I get the passport?
In the normal process, it comes within 10 to 30 days. In the Tatkal process, it comes within 3 to 7 days (if there is no police verification pending).
