There are also many mobile loan apps and now you are also getting the facilities to transfer money, but there is a need to be very careful about this, for which the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has advised people to make secure online transactions. Advice for promotion is issued. This is because with the increasing online transactions for DoT, the risk of falling into the trap of fraudsters has become a major cause of concern for the end user.

  • The Department of Telecommunications has issued guidelines to people to avoid fraud in online transactions, asking them not to scan any QR code until the payment has been made. The purpose of this consultation is to alert citizens to the QR code shared by anyone.
  • It has been said in the guidelines that think before clicking on any link, as banks never send the link for KYC update. Do not share confidential data like OTP, CVV, PIN with anyone including bank officials. Do not install any remote access applications on your devices.
  • Whenever money is asked in advance in any form, be extra careful and first of all take complete information about the person or company. The Center has also advised people not to share personal information, such as contact numbers and sensitive banking details, with anyone to stay away from possible online frauds.
  • Do not store important and sensitive information and passwords on mobile and social media platforms or use any form of encryption unless absolutely necessary.
  • Do not visit suspicious websites of porn and online gaming, which can make your phone vulnerable and can lead to extortion, financial loss.
  • Also avoid using unknown Wi-Fi networks. Do not conduct financial transactions using any suspicious network.
