Ola Electric to launch two-wheeler, Amsterdam-based Etergo in India by 2021

New Delhi, Auto Desk. Ola Electric has announced it has made its announcement in the global and local electric two-wheeler markets. The company will soon launch an electric scooter in the Indian market. To pursue this project, Ola Electric has acquired an Amsterdam-based company named Etergo BV, which is engaged in manufacturing electric tricycle vehicles. Etergo is a fairly new company, founded in 2014 and one of its biggest successes was Appscooter. The scooter has won numerous awards worldwide for innovative design and engineering. The Appscooter has a range of 240 km on a single charge and consists of high energy density batteries.



Founder and chairman of Ola Electric, Bhavesh Agarwal said, “The future of mobility is electric and the world after Covid presents an opportunity for us to adopt electric mobility globally. Ola Electric is working on creating an electric vehicle ecosystem that includes extensive charging and swapping networks across the country. It is true that Ola is running a number of pilot programs to deploy electric vehicles and charging solutions in cities, with a focus on two and 3 wheeler vehicles.



The new Ola electric scooter will be launched in India in 2021 and the recent acquisition of Etergo will further boost the company’s R&D capabilities. Etergo’s R&D team has personnel who have previously worked with the likes of Tesla, GM, Ferrari, BMW and Jaguar. As they join Ola Electric, Etergo’s team will continue to stay out of Amsterdam.
