No Work From Home In Cognizant: The problems of employees in the tech sector are not stopping. Many tech firms are continuously doing layoffs and also eliminating work from home. Now US-based IT firm Cognizant has asked its India employees to work from office at least three times a week. The company believes that working from office is the right way to work.

It is necessary to come to office three days a week

Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S said in a memo last week that all Indian associates “are expected to be in the office an average of three days per week or as defined by their team leader,” though it remained unclear when the new rules would come into effect. There is no information regarding this.

He urged employees to use personal time to prioritize activities that “benefit greatly from being together” such as collaborative projects, training and team building. According to the company, working from office increases understanding about the company culture.
2.5 lakh employees in India

Of Cognizant’s 347,700 employees, about 254,000 are based in India, the company’s largest employee base, according to its annual report. Apart from Cognizant, New Jersey-based Indian companies such as Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys and Wipro mandated employees to return to the office in 2023. At the same time, TCS has asked employees to work from office five days a week.

Hybrid-work scheduling app

The company believes the hybrid model will “define the future of work” and is committed to expanding into tier-2 cities across India, where many of its associates are based. Cognizant will launch a new hybrid-work scheduling app for India that will help managers adjust schedules and reserve office space for their teams.
