The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has made public the live traffic movement at 214 toll plazas by hosting a web link on its site, which will ensure public scrutiny of the management of traffic at toll gates. Officials said that 407 toll plazas will go live in the next few days and later all 700 toll plazas will be made live.
According to TOI, an NHI official said, “The aim is to give information to the people which they can see and identify the problems they face. Similarly, our officers and toll operators can also see real time traffic movement at toll plazas. They can take quick action in case of overcrowding or long queues of vehicles.
NHAI has hosted the weblink in its ‘Citizen Charter’ option and hence the passengers can raise the issues related to the hassles being faced at the toll plazas for timely action. “We will devise a system for the passengers to get their grievances resolved quickly,” the official said. There will be round the clock monitoring in the backend.
Highways ministry officials said that by putting the real-time feed in the public domain, NHAI has now taken greater responsibility to ensure that commuters do not face any problem and there is no need to blame others on any issue. Don’t have room.
