The Government of India has taken a major step to ensure that free or subsidized rations, available to millions of beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), reach the right people. E-KYC is now mandatory for ration card holders. This will ensure that only eligible citizens can benefit from the scheme.

Required e-KYC every 5 years

According to the new rules, ration card e-KYC must be done every five years. For example, those who last completed their e-KYC in 2013 must update it immediately. The good news is that the e-KYC process has now become much easier, and you can complete it from home or by visiting your nearest center.

How to do online ration card e-KYC sitting at home?

You can easily complete the process through Face e-KYC using your smartphone:

  1. Download the app: Download the apps named ‘Mera KYC’ and ‘Aadhaar FaceRD’ on your mobile.
  2.  Login and Aadhaar: Open the ‘Mera KYC’ app and enter your location.
  3. Fill in the details: Now enter your Aadhaar number, captcha code and verify with the OTP received on your mobile.
  4. Face e-KYC: Verify your Aadhaar details displayed on the screen and select the ‘Face e-KYC’ option.
  5. Click a photo. The camera will automatically turn on. Click your photo.
  6. Submit: After clicking the photo, tap on the Submit button.

By following these steps you can easily complete the e-KYC process.

How to check whether e-KYC has been done or not

If you want to know whether your e-KYC process is complete or not, follow these steps:

  1. Open Mera KYC app: Open the app and enter the location.
  2. Enter details: Aadhaar number, captcha and re-enter OTP.
  3. Check the status: When the details screen opens, if it shows Status: Y (Yes), it means the e-KYC has been completed. If it shows Status: N (No), you’ll need to complete it again.

Easy way of offline e-KYC

If you’re having trouble completing your e-KYC through the mobile app, don’t worry. You can also complete the process offline using one of two methods:

1.      Ration Dealer Shop: Visit your nearest ration dealer.

2.      Common Service Centre (CSC): You can also visit the Common Service Centre (CSC).

At these locations, you only need to bring your Aadhaar card and ration card. They will complete your e-KYC through biometric verification.
