The Government of India has taken a major step to ensure that free or subsidized rations, available to millions of beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), reach the right people. E-KYC is now mandatory for ration card holders. This will ensure that only eligible citizens can benefit from the scheme.
Required e-KYC every 5 years
According to the new rules, ration card e-KYC must be done every five years. For example, those who last completed their e-KYC in 2013 must update it immediately. The good news is that the e-KYC process has now become much easier, and you can complete it from home or by visiting your nearest center.

Easy way of offline e-KYC
If you’re having trouble completing your e-KYC through the mobile app, don’t worry. You can also complete the process offline using one of two methods:
1. Ration Dealer Shop: Visit your nearest ration dealer.
2. Common Service Centre (CSC): You can also visit the Common Service Centre (CSC).
At these locations, you only need to bring your Aadhaar card and ration card. They will complete your e-KYC through biometric verification.
