Along with bedsheets, pillow covers, and towels, passengers will now receive a blanket cover as part of their bedrolls on trains. Passengers often complain that they receive new sheets and pillow covers, but have to use blankets used by other passengers.

This will no longer be the case. Like pillow covers, they will also receive new blanket covers. This service has been launched as a pilot project on the Jaipur-Ahmedabad (Asarva) Express train, but will be expanded to other trains in the future.

Railway Minister inaugurated the service

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav launched a blanket cover service featuring traditional Sanganeri prints at Jaipur’s Khatipura railway station on Thursday. On the first day of this pilot project, passengers traveling in the air-conditioned (AC) coaches of the Jaipur-Ahmedabad (Asarva) Express, which departs at 8:45 pm, were given packets of new blanket covers, a step towards passenger convenience and hygiene. He stated that the Railways has taken a major decision to address passenger complaints regarding blankets. Passengers will now receive blanket covers along with blankets on trains. This initiative has been launched on a pilot basis.

Service will also be available in other trains

Speaking to the media, Ashwini Vaishnav said that blankets have been used in our railway system for years, but passengers have always had some doubts. To address this, a new initiative has been launched today, under which blankets will now be provided along with covers on trains. He further stated that this initiative has been launched on a pilot basis, providing blankets and covers to passengers on just one train departing from Jaipur. Based on the results of the pilot project, this initiative will be expanded to other trains.

Expansion of several other passenger amenities

The Union Minister inaugurated new platforms, platform upgrades, and expansions, as well as an integrated passenger information system, at 65 small and medium-sized stations under the North Western Railway. He noted that even small stations have improved facilities. Work has been done on platform height, length, and platform covers. Signboards are being installed for passenger information. These features have been installed at approximately 65 stations in Rajasthan.
