New Banking System: HDFC Bank announced new rules for banking services, applicable from October 1

HDFC Bank has announced new rules for its premium banking service Imperia program. These changes will come into effect from October 1, 2025. The bank has officially informed its customers that new conditions will now apply to remain or join Imperia.

Who will be affected?

The new rules will apply to customers who have joined the Imperia program on or before June 30, 2025, from October 1. At the same time, the new rules are already applicable to customers whose Imperia status has been renewed or upgraded or downgraded after July 1, 2025.

What has changed?

The biggest change is the rule of Total Relationship Value (TRV). Now to become an Imperia customer, it is necessary to have a TRV of Rs 1 crore or more at the group level.

Will join the TRV

  • Amount of savings, current and fixed deposits.
  • Mutual funds and other investments purchased from the bank.
  • 20% of any retail loan.
  • Premiums for insurance policies purchased from HDFC Bank.

The old rules will also remain applicable

  • In addition to TRV, customers will continue to be eligible for Imperia’s features based on the old rules. These will include:
  • Average quarterly balance of at least Rs 15 lakh in current account.
  • Average monthly balance of Rs 10 lakh in savings account.
  • Average monthly balance of Rs 30 lakh in total across savings, current and fixed deposits.
  • Credit of net salary of Rs 3 lakh or more to HDFC Bank Corporate Salary Account.

What benefits do Imperia customers enjoy?

The Imperia program offers several banking features for free that are charged to regular customers. These include:

  • Inter-branch fund transfer.
  • Stop Payment Instruction.
  • Cheque Collection and Duplicate Account Statement.
  • Mandate Registration and copy of old records.
  • Interest and Balance Certificate.
  • Address Confirmation and Signature Attestation.
