The Modi government has abolished the subsidy on LPG in most cities by increasing it from time to time.

The common household, which is entitled to 12 cylinders of 14.2 kg each at subsidized rates in a year, and the Ujjwala scheme beneficiaries who get free connections, now pay the market price.

The price of 5 kg LPG cylinder has now gone up to Rs 502. This is the fourth increase in the prices of domestic LPG cylinders since July. The prices were increased by Rs 25.50 per cylinder in July. This was followed by an increase of Rs 25 each on August 17 and September 1. Energy expert Narendra Taneja told Hindustan that the price of petrol, diesel and domestic LPG cylinders is not expected to come down further.

Loss of Rs 100 per cylinder to companies

Sources associated with Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum said that at present there is a loss of Rs 100 per cylinder. In May, Saudi Arabia used to supply LPG at the rate of $483 per metric tonne. At the same time, in October, Saudi Arabia has made $ 797 per metric ton, due to which the companies are incurring a loss of about Rs 100 per cylinder.Crude oil at seven-year high

The international benchmark Brent crude price rose to $82.92 a barrel after OPEC+ (oil-producing countries) restricted production growth to four lakh barrels per day, leading to a large proportionate increase in fuel prices. This is the highest level in seven years. Due to the rapid pace of corona vaccination, the economy of the whole world is opening up rapidly.

Due to this the demand for fuel has increased rapidly. Production is not happening in that ratio. In such a situation, the price of crude oil can be seen further in the coming days. This is bound to have an impact on the Indian market as India imports 85 per cent of its crude oil requirement. In such a situation, it would be better not to expect cheap fuel.
