Government Liquor Shops in Delhi: Department sources have feared that there may be a shortage of liquor in Delhi due to the closure of government liquor shops in the city.



Because there is no guarantee that all 850 private shops will start functioning from Wednesday. Licenses have been given to applicants of all 32 zones, but under the new excise policy, around 300-350 shops are likely to function from day one.

About 400 liquor contracts will be locked in Delhi from today. The New Excise Policy of the Delhi Government will be implemented on Wednesday morning. However, it is feared that due to the sudden closure of a large number of government contract shops, there will be a shortage of liquor and there will be a sudden increase in private shops.

According to sources, licenses have been distributed to all applicants in 32 areas, but on the first day of the new excise system, about 300 to 350 shops are likely to start operating. Licenses have been granted. More than 200 brands have been registered and 10 wholesale licensees have started operations, who have procured nine lakh liters of liquor of different brands so far.



Under the new excise policy of the Delhi government, all 850 liquor shops, including 260 privately run shops, have been distributed to private companies through open tender. Private liquor shops had already stopped their operations on 30 September and government contracts running in the transition period of one and a half months will also end their business on Tuesday night. The new license holders will start retailing liquor from Wednesday.

The Delhi government will go out of the retail liquor business under the new system. Liquor shops will now be opened in an area of ​​at least 500 square feet. The shops will now be air conditioned and equipped with CCTV. Due to the new shop, now there will be no crowd on the road. Because the sale of liquor will be done inside the shops.
