Life Certificate: Important news to pensioners! Know how pensioners living abroad can submit Annual Life Certificate

Those aged 80 years or more get an additional month to submit life certificates – they can submit it between October 1 and November 30.

It is mandatory for Central Government Pensioners/Family Pensioners to submit their Annual Life Certificate in the month of November. Those aged 80 years or more get an additional month to submit life certificates – they can submit it between October 1 and November 30. One has to deposit it physically at a bank or post office, or avail doorstep services. It can also be done online.





Life certificate can be submitted physically if you are residing in the country, but how does a pensioner living abroad submit his/her life certificate? The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW), through an office memorandum dated September 22, 2021, provided information about the various methods used for submission of life certificate by a pensioner residing abroad. Let us also tell you about the ways in which pensioners living abroad can submit their life certificate.

The work will be done with the sign of the bank officer

Jeevan Pramaan by an officer of the bank in the case of a pensioner/family pensioner residing abroad and receiving pension/family pension through any bank included in the Second Schedule to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Act, 1934. The letter can be signed. A pensioner/family pensioner is exempted from personal appearance subject to production of a life certificate signed by the above officer of the Bank.

A pensioner/family pensioner not resident in India is exempted from personal appearance if his/her duly authorized agent produces a life certificate signed by a magistrate, notary, banker or diplomatic representative of India. Pensioners/Family Pensioners can also provide Digital Life Certificate online through Aadhaar based Biometric Authentication System. High commission can also help

In case NRI pensioners/family pensioners are unable to come to India for personal identification, pension/family pension may be allowed on the basis of a certificate to be issued by an authorized officer of the Embassy of India/High Commission of India or Consul. The Consulate General of India in the country where the pensioner/family pensioner is residing. This certificate is to be issued on verification on the basis of the photograph pasted in the PPO of the pensioner/family pensioner or the photograph affixed on the passport or any such other document.


Doctor’s certificate will work

In case the pensioner/family pensioner is unable to visit the Indian Embassy/Consulate, he/she may submit the necessary documents to the Embassy/Consulate by post, including a doctor’s certificate showing the pensioner’s/family pensioner’s inability to present himself/herself. also includes. himself in person. Indian Embassy/High Commission/Indian Consulate may also assist pensioners/family pensioners in submission of Life Certificate.
