Public sector insurer LIC (Life Insurance Corporation of India) on Thursday said it will take legal action against errant entities who are using its ‘logo’ unauthorizedly on social media to attract customers. LIC, in its warning notice, has asked the public not to fall prey to offers from entities that are misusing its ‘logo’ on social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

“It has also come to our notice that some unscrupulous service providers and agents have created websites and apps by which they are using our trademarks/service marks to offer various services like ‘insurance and insurance advisory services’ to customers,” the notice said. It further stated that the domain names are misleadingly identical to the domain names of LIC and an attempt has been made to create an illusion that they are in any way associated with or by LIC. are authorized.


Such customers are being misled – According to Life Insurance Corporation of India, vicious agents have created websites and apps with LIC’s logo. In which the domain and website design is similar to LIC. In such a situation, customers buy policies here due to the trust of LIC. So fraud can be done with them.
