New Delhi. There is good news for those who like Jio phones. Reliance Jio, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries (whose chairman is Asia’s richest man Mukesh Ambani), will relaunch its feature phone JioPhone in the next quarter. This will be the relaunching of this phone. The company wants to take advantage of the current work from home (WFH) status. Despite the lockdown being removed, most companies are allowed to work from home to protect their employees from being infected with the Kovid-19 virus. Schools and colleges are also taking online classes, due to which the demand for 4G phones has increased. Consumption of online entertainment content has also increased due to WFH.

Smartphone will come after feature phone

According to the Economic Times report, its proposed entry-level smartphone will be launched after the launch of Jio’s 4G feature phone. Jio is developing smartphones in partnership with Google. Jio phone was first launched in 2018. This helped Reliance to become the largest mobile selling company in India. However, this phone disappeared from the market earlier this year due to difficulty in component sourcing.

Reliance prepares

Reliance has fixed its component base. The new Jio phone is being manufactured by the new contract manufacturer, Flex. According to an estimate by Counterpoint Research, Reliance has sold over 100 million units of Jio. This means that about 26 per cent of Jio’s total customer base is Jio phone users.

How much was the price of the first live phone

Through Jio Phone, the company had managed to attract a large number of feature phone users. A large number of these people were financially unable to upgrade to smartphones. The first version of Jio Phone was launched for Rs 1,500. If the handset is returned, this money will be returned after three years. A few months after the launch of Jio Phone 1, the company launched Jio Phone 2, a 4G feature phone with a QWERTY keypad, at a price of Rs 2,999. A large display and additional apps were given in this phone. This phone played an important role in increasing the subscriber base of Jio in the country.
