ITR Payment New Rule: Income tax can be paid with the help of credit card and UPI, new facility started, know service

Keeping in mind the convenience of the taxpayers, the Income Tax Department has now started the facility of depositing tax through credit cards as well. The e-Pay Tax service has been expanded on the e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department.


New Delhi: If you have not deposited your income tax yet and have run out of money in the account, then now you need not worry, as you can also file your income tax return through credit card. Keeping in mind the convenience of the taxpayers, the Income Tax Department has now started the facility of depositing tax through credit cards as well. The e-Pay Tax service has been expanded on the e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department. With the help of this facility, taxpayers can deposit tax with the help of credit card, debit card, UPI.

Conveyance fee will have to be paid

In a conversation with Zee Biz Hindi, Tax Expert Chirag Chauhan of CA Chauhan & Co Chartered Accountants said that taxpayers will get a lot of relief with the introduction of the facility of depositing tax with the help of credit cards and UPI. However, payment of tax by credit card will attract a convenience fee of 1%. There is a transaction charge of 0.85 per cent for credit card payments. Apart from this, GST also has to be paid separately.

Login with Pan number

In a conversation with Zee Biz Hindi, the expert has told that, earlier one had to visit the website of NSDL to deposit the tax. But now the facility of e-Pay Tax is available on the Income Tax Department’s own website. Here you have to login by entering mobile number and PAN card number. Further, all kinds of information will have to be filled and at the end many payment options have been given.

Income tax can also be paid with the help of UPI

No transaction charges will be levied on payments made using RuPay Debit Card, BHIM UPI and UPI QR Code. CBDT i.e. Central Board of Direct Taxes has expanded the options of e-pay service to promote digital payment.
