The Revenue Secretary on Friday made it clear that the government is not contemplating to extend the July 31 deadline for filing income tax returns. Now only 10 days are left with the taxpayers to file ITR. The Income Tax Department is advised to file your ITR on time.

Who has to fill ITR

Apart from this, income tax return will have to be filed even if the amount of TDS and TCS exceeds Rs 25000 in a year. However, the limit of TDS + TCS has been kept at Rs 50,000 for taxpayers who are 60 years or more.

If the amount deposited in the bank savings account is 50 lakhs or more in 1 year, then such depositors will also have to file their tax return. The new rules are applicable from April 21.
