Railways has shared a post on the social media platform ‘Twitter’, in which it has been told that what is the truth of the news? Railway has written in its post, ‘A news has been published on some social media platforms and digital news channels that in the last few days, the policy of carry-on baggage has been changed by the Railways. In this regard, it is clarified that no circular or order has been issued by Indian Railways in this regard. The present policy is very old and is in effect for more than 10 years.

How much luggage can a passenger carry?

According to the rules of Indian Railways, railway passengers in different classes can keep heavy luggage from 40 kg to 70 kg in the train compartment with them during the journey. If there is more baggage than this, the passenger has to pay extra charge. Under rule one, 40 kg in sleeper class, 50 kg in two tier is allowed, while in first class AC, the maximum exemption is up to 70 kg.
