In a press release issued by the Chennai Division of Southern Railway, it was told that keeping in mind the upcoming festive season, the platform ticket price has been increased from Rs 10 to Rs 20 to avoid overcrowding.

In the information given by the Southern Railway, it was also told that the new price will be effective from 1 October 2022 and will be effective till 31 January 2023. That is, after the completion of the festive season by January 31, platform tickets will be available from February 1 at the old rate of Rs 10 only. New rates will be applicable on these eight stations

The increase in platform ticket by Southern Railway will be applicable at eight major stations of Chennai Division. These stations include Chennai Central, Chennai Egmore, Tambaram, Katpadi, Changalpattu, Arakkonam, Tiruvallur and Avadi.
