New Delhi. Now if you go to the New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS) located in the national capital Delhi, you will have to pay an entry fee of Rs 30. Along with this, if you wait more than 15 minutes in the parking, then you will have to pay 200 rupees. The ministry has told that if you wait for 8 to 15 minutes, then private vehicles will have to give parking of Rs 50. However, if you stay for only 8 minutes, you will not be charged a single penny.

According to the English newspaper Times of India, commercial trains will have to pay Rs 30 for 0-8 minutes, Rs 50 for 8-15 minutes and Rs 200 for 15-30 minutes. Northern Railway has resumed charging ‘entry fee’ from private and commercial vehicles a few weeks back. The rationale behind this is that through this, ‘unauthorized’ parking of congested vehicles in the parking lane can be stopped. It was proposed in March last year, although it was suspended for some time due to Covid.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav gave information in Rajya Sabha
In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha during the Winter Session of Parliament, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on Friday said, “In order to manage traffic movement and prohibit unauthorized parking which leads to overcrowding in parking lanes, pick-up at New Delhi Railway Station.” Entry fee is being levied on vehicles doing up and drop.

“No pick-up or drop facility will be allowed beyond the period of 30 minutes,” the minister said. However, if a passenger wishes to wait for more than 30 minutes, he can park the vehicles in the area earmarked for parking for which the parking rates have been fixed.
