Mumbai. There is good news for the passengers traveling in Indian Railways. Now soon fresh food will be available during the journey in trains. Recently, the Railway Board had ordered the introduction of pantry cars in the train.



 
Now Western Railway has decided to resume onboard catering service along with cooked food and ready to eat meals in Shatabdi Express and Duronto Express trains. Decision has been taken.

According to a statement issued by Western Railway, Train No. 12009/10 Mumbai Central-Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central Shatabdi Express and Train No. 22209/10 Mumbai Central-New Delhi-Mumbai Central Duronto Express will have onboard catering service from December 10, 2021. will be started. Passengers have been given the option of opting out of the catering service for travel dates starting from December 10.


Railways had already issued an order in this regard to all the concerned departments and stakeholders. According to the order, at present it will be applicable only for Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto, Vande Bharat, Tejas and Gatimaan category trains. For those passengers who have already booked tickets, some instructions have been given to the service provider.

As per the order, IRCTC will inform the concerned zonal railways about the date from which onboard catering services with cooked meals will be resumed in a particular train for journeys falling within the advance reservation period.

The zonal officers are also required to inform the e-ticket passengers, who have already booked tickets, through SMS and e-mail.

Catering service provides employment to lakhs

Significantly, due to the closure of the catering service, the employment of lakhs of people has also been affected. According to an estimate, about 5 lakh people are directly and indirectly connected with it. Resumption of the catering service will bring great relief to the people and families associated with it.
