New Delhi: Indian Railways keeps on coming up with new rules for passengers from time to time. In this direction, Indian Railways has made a big announcement regarding senior citizens, under which now senior citizens will get the ticket of the lower berth in the train.

There is often a confusion in the minds of people that if they book lower berths for senior citizens, then why does it not happen? If you have also faced the problem then now you are going to get the solution.

Railway gave information

In fact, due to the senior citizen not getting a seat in the lower berth, a person named Jitendra on Twitter sent a direct question to IRCTC in which he tagged Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. He asked what does it mean when you people give the option of seat allotment in Railways. I had booked 3 seats which were for senior citizens but it is a matter of regret that they got upper berth and middle berth, due to which their family members suffered a lot. The user tagged Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnav due to the trouble during the journey.

Taking this suggestion positively, the Railways gave its clarification, in which it was written on behalf of the Railways that the Senior Citizen quota berth is only for people who are 60 years of age or more. If the woman is traveling then her age should be above 45 years then she will come under senior quota. Railways have clearly explained that this facility will be available only when two senior citizens are traveling, if the number is more than 2 senior citizens, then the benefit of this facility will not be available.
