India-UAE relations strengthened, Visa on Arrival facility expanded; Big relief for Indian travelers

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has expanded the visa on arrival facility for Indian citizens. Now Indians holding valid residence permits of Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Korea and Singapore can get visa on arrival in the UAE. This facility is effective from 13 February 2025. The UAE Ambassador has described it as a strong sign of India-UAE partnership.

Traveling to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has become easier for Indian citizens. The UAE Embassy in New Delhi has informed that the visa on arrival facility has been expanded for Indians.

Now those Indian citizens who have a valid residence permit of Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Korea and Singapore can get visa on arrival at all entry points of the UAE. This new facility has been implemented from 13 February 2025.

Expansion of existing rules

Earlier this new change, Indian citizens were granted visa on arrival in the UAE only if they had a valid visa, residence permit or green card of the US, European Union (EU) or United Kingdom (UK). Now six more countries have been added to this list, making travel to the UAE even easier for Indian travelers.

The UAE government says that easy and open travel management plays a big role in strengthening human relations between the two countries. Especially for countries like India and the UAE, which are economically, culturally and strategically connected, this initiative is a symbol of trust and cooperation.

‘This step will further strengthen the relationship’

UAE Ambassador to India Dr. Abdulnasser Alshali described this initiative as a strong sign of India-UAE partnership. He said, “The expansion of the Visa on Arrival program for Indian citizens is a proof of our strong partnership with India. This is a practical step that will make it easier for families to meet, increase opportunities for collaboration for professionals, and give new impetus to business.” He also said that both India and UAE are forward-looking, dynamic countries and this policy will help build better bridges between the people and economies of the two countries.
