Neelu Ranjan, New Delhi. India did not like the World Health Organization (WHO) decision to postpone the trial of hydroxy-chloroquine (HCQ) for the treatment of corona. Although India has not formally responded to the WHO decision, it has made it clear that HCQ is completely safe and will continue its trial. It is to be noted that the WHO had decided to postpone its trial after taking into account the side effects report to HCQ.

Without naming the WHO, the Director General of ICMR, Dr. Balram Bhargava, dismissed the possibility of HCQ being fatal. Dr. Bhargava said that chloroquine is a very old medicine, which we have been taking for generations. Here, in the olden time, it was advised to eat it on the interdisciplinary letter of the postal department to avoid malaria and also its food method was written. He said that it is still widely used for malaria and no major side-effects have ever been reported. He said that if it had such a severe effect on health, it would not have been in use for eight decades. It is also important to note that hydroxy-chloroquine is also safer than chloroquine.
Used in laboratories around the world for this
Talking about the usefulness of HCQ in preventing corona infection, Dr. Balaram Bhargava said that in view of its widespread success in preventing malaria, it was expected to have anti-viral biological biology and for this in laboratories across the world Experiments were conducted. Many famous science generals of the world have printed papers related to these studies and nothing is hidden. Recently, at the National Institute of Virology in Pune, HCQ was tested on corona virus, which found it to be very effective in preventing the growth of corona virus.
Thousands of health workers were given HCQ doses for six weeks
In a befitting reply to scientists warning of the side-effects of HCQ being fatal and its use for corona, Dr. Balram Bhargava said that thousands of health workers engaged in the treatment of corona were given HCQ doses for six weeks. Along with this, a control study was carried out in AIIMS, ICMR and three other hospitals in Delhi to see its impact. In both studies, HCQ was found to be safe and no major side-effects were observed. Some people complained of nausea and vomiting. But it was found in those who ate the medicine on an empty stomach.

If it is taken with food, then this complaint also does not come. Heart patients can be given an ECG while taking medication to remove the possibility of its side effects and it has also been advised. The biggest thing is that the control study of AIIMS, ICMR and three hospitals and analysis of data from thousands of health workers given for six weeks, showed that HCQN can be helpful in preventing someone from getting infected with corona virus. And this requires clinical trials.
All study data will be made public next week
Dr. Balaram Bhargava said that the data of all studies done in India regarding HCQ will be made public by next week, which is evidence of its effectiveness against Corona. Obviously, India has no justification for stopping the ongoing trial of HCQ. He hoped that after looking at the study data in India, the WHO would reconsider its decision and allow the HCQ trial to continue.
