Retired Major General GD Bakshi considers it a major victory of India. He says that India has given a befitting reply to China this time and that is why China went quietly behind without a single shot. However, they also believe that this time the violence that China experienced in Gavalan was more dangerous for the first time. He did the same action here, which was done by Pakistan once in Kargil, due to which there was a war for three months.
India gave a tough fight
Speaking to Dainik Jagran, Major General Bakshi said that India had forcefully hit China this time and sent the same number of soldiers to wherever they had infiltrated. The result is that China had to retreat. He said that China had never before thought that India could act in this way, but this time India’s right strategy forced it to retreat. Apart from this, a big victory of India was also that China admitted that it had entered so many kilometers inside the Indian border. This has significant significance from a political and strategic point of view.
Uses like pressure points
Bakshi said that on the border adjoining Ladakh, there is actually Line of Actual Control. China has been doing this kind of snowball before and then going back. Over the years, India has tried to resolve this border dispute, but China wants to maintain it. His aim is that whenever he has to face some pressure on an issue on the international stage, he will create a dispute in the areas bordering India, so that the entire media can divert attention from it to the border dispute. They believe that China already has this policy. India has repeatedly demanded China to exchange maps to resolve border disputes, but China has never paid any attention to it. Bakshi says that China could not overthrow this dispute, Because its focus is on the eastern region. Continued disputes with the South China Sea and Taiwan. He does not want to get into any kind of trouble by prolonging the dispute over Ladakh. At the same time, India did not think about the action taken this time This is a big victory for India.
Chinese incursion in Gavlan for the first time
According to him, this was the first time that China had tried to infiltrate the region of Galvan. According to him, the Chinese army filled their trucks in a very planned manner and brought their soldiers to the places which used to come in Indian territory. Galvan is present at very high altitudes. From here the movement of our soldiers could be easily seen. From here on our strategic point of view, the most important roads could be monitored. For the first time here, the Chinese army came inside the Indian border for about 3 km. From here, a road along the Indian border runs to Daulatbeg Oldi sector. This road is two km away from the place where the Chinese army was. China had also objected to the construction of Indian roads along the Galvan River. Apart from this, China has tried to infiltrate two more places this time, where it has also had to face it.
Can make snow again
Bakshi says that China’s withdrawal does not mean that it will not do such an act again. Therefore, there is a need to be relaxed. According to him, the Gavlan of Ladakh is very high and there is heavy snowfall. At the same time, even in other border areas, army personnel do not do patrolling everyday. Even Chinese soldiers do not spend every day patrolling in this area. Both the armies retreat every year in extremely cold weather, but this time China took advantage of this and carried out the infiltration in Gavlan. Now we have to be vigilant about this in future. This time China has come to know that India is no longer 1962. According to him, the Indian Army is in a much stronger position than China.
