Income Tax Returns: There are only a few days left to file Income Tax Returns for the financial year 2021-22. There is an appeal from the government and financial institutions to fill ITR soon. Every earning person is required to file Income Tax Return (ITR). This is a form that records their annual income. You or any taxpayer can use this form to provide information about your income, expenses, tax deduction, investments etc. At the same time, the Income Tax Department also gives the option of filing income tax returns electronically (e-filing).

You need to e-verify after filing ITR to complete the return process. If the ITR is not verified within the stipulated time frame, then it is considered invalid. The easiest and fastest method of its verification is ITR e-verification. Both registered and non-registered users on the e-filing site can use this service.

If you have submitted ITR and want to e-verify it through Aadhaar OTP, then we are telling you the process. But make sure that your mobile phone is linked with Aadhaar. Apart from this, also ensure that your PAN is linked with your Aadhaar number.

How to E-Verify ITR through Aadhaar OTP

  1. Go to https://www.incometax.gov.in to access your e-filing account.
  2. Select e-Verify Return option under Quick Links.
  3. In this, select the mobile number you want to verify using OTP on the mobile number registered with Aadhaar. Then click on e-Verify screen.
  4. Select Agree to verify the checked Aadhaar details on the Aadhaar OTP screen. Then click on Generate Aadhaar OTP
  5.  After entering the 6-digit OTP sent to your Aadhaar-registered mobile number, click on Validate.
  6. Remember that this OTP is valid for 15 minutes only. You will be given three chances to enter the correct OTP. You will also see an OTP expiry countdown timer on the screen which will notify you when the OTP is received. Whereas when you click on Resend OTP, a new OTP will be generated and you will get it.
  7. Now a page with the success message and transaction ID will appear. Keep the transaction ID safe for further use. A confirmation message will also be sent on the e-mail and mobile number that you have given on the filing portal.
