Heavy Rain Alert: There is a possibility of heavy rain in many parts of the country in the coming days. The Meteorological Department has predicted that heavy to very heavy rains may occur in many parts of the country from July 28 to August 3. The Meteorological Department estimates that there is a possibility of a low pressure area in northwestern Madhya Pradesh during the next 12 hours. Due to this, heavy rains may occur in many parts of the country.

Apart from this, heavy rains may occur from 1 to 3 August. A new round of heavy rains is likely to start in the western Himalayan region during July 29 to 31.

Heavy to very heavy rains expected in many states

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in many states of the country in the coming days. Heavy to very heavy rains are expected in the coming days in East, West, North-West, Northeast India, Central and South Peninsular India. According to the IMD, the western end of the monsoon trough is south of its normal position and the eastern end is near its normal position at mean sea level.

It has weakened into a low pressure area over northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas.   • Heavy rain is likely over western Uttar Pradesh on July 28, Uttarakhand during July 28 to 30, Himachal Pradesh on July 29.
  • Light to moderate rain is likely at many places over western Himalayan region and plains with thunderstorms and lightning at some places during next 7 days.

Extremely heavy rains over West India

  • Heavy rain is likely at isolated places over Konkan & Goa, Gujarat state, Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during July 28 to 30,
  • Very heavy rain is likely at isolated places over Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra on July 28.
  • Light to moderate rain is likely at many places over the region during next 6 to 7 days.

Heavy rain likely over Northeast India

  • A fresh spell of heavy to very heavy rains is likely over Northeast India during August 1 to 3.
  • Extremely heavy rain is likely at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on August 1 and 2.
  • Thunderstorms, lightning and heavy to very heavy rains may continue at many places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya during 28 July to 2 August.

Very heavy rains likely over East and Central India

  • Heavy rains are likely at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh during 28 to 31 July.
  • Heavy rains are likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim till 2 August, Bihar during 28 to 30 July, Jharkhand during 29-31 July.
  • Light to moderate rains and thundershowers accompanied with strong winds are likely at most places over the region during the next 5 days.
