Strong winds and rain have brought down the temperature. The Meteorological Department has also issued an alert of strong winds, thunderstorms and drizzle in many areas of the country on Saturday. In such a situation, the knock of pre-monsoon is being felt in many places. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has released the latest weather update for May 24, 2025.

Relief from heat will be found here

Amidst the scorching heat in North India, now some relief is expected from the change in weather. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), dust storms and light to moderate rain may occur in Delhi-NCR for the next two days. This will give a lot of relief from the heat. Apart from this, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab and Bihar may also receive rain with strong winds and thunderstorms. According to the IMD, the southwest monsoon may reach Kerala in the next 2-3 days, which is likely to cause more rain in the coming days.

On May 23, a “well marked low pressure” system has formed near the South Konkan coast in the Arabian Sea. This system is slowly moving north and may turn into a depression in the next 24 hours. Due to this, a warning of torrential rains has been issued in the states of the west coast.

Red alert in Maharashtra

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that it may rain in many areas of Maharashtra this week from May 24. A yellow alert has been issued for Mumbai for the next 5 days. A red alert has been issued for Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts today, meaning there is a possibility of heavy rain here. Raigad district will also have an orange alert for the next 5 days. It has been warned that strong winds may blow at a speed of 50 to 60 kmph in some areas and heavy to very heavy rains may occur.

Chances of heavy rains in Kerala

Continuous heavy rains in many parts of Kerala are affecting normal life. Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that monsoon is likely to reach Kerala in the next two days, due to which there may be heavy rains in the state in the coming week. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. A red alert has been issued for Kannur and Kasaragod from 24 to 26 May. There will be a red alert for Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad on 25th and 26th May.
