IMD Issues Red Alert: Catastrophic Rainfall Forecast from October 6–8

Today’s Weather: According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rain is expected in northwest India between October 6 and 7. Strong winds of 30-50 kmph are possible here.

Heavy rain is forecast for Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and western Rajasthan on October 6. Rain is also expected in Uttarakhand on October 6-7. Additionally, heavy rain is expected in Haryana-Chandigarh, western Uttar Pradesh, and eastern Rajasthan on October 6. Minimum temperatures in northwest India may drop by 4-5 degrees Celsius over the next two days, starting October 8.

Chances of rain in Jharkhand

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain on October 6th in 11 districts of Jharkhand, including the capital Ranchi and Khunti. Strong winds and thunderstorms are expected in some areas. According to the department, continuous rain is expected in Jharkhand until October 7th.

Chances of rain in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka

According to the IMD, light to moderate rainfall is expected at many places in Tamil Nadu from October 6 to 9, in South Interior Karnataka from October 8 to 10, and in Kerala on October 8 and 9. Heavy rainfall is also possible at isolated places. Strong surface winds of 30-40 kmph will prevail over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema during the next five days, while strong winds are expected over Kerala and Lakshadweep on October 6 .

Apart from Arunachal Pradesh, there is a possibility of rain in these states

According to the department , light to moderate rain is expected at many places in Arunachal Pradesh on October 6 and 10, Assam and Meghalaya from October 6 to 10, Nagaland from October 6 to 11, Manipur on October 8 and 9, and Mizoram on October 8. Heavy rain is also likely at some places along with thunderstorms.
