Today Weather News: Winter has begun. The morning and evening chills started early due to rains in October. However, severe cold has already set in in some parts of the country.
The Meteorological Department has said that central India, which includes Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and some parts of Uttar Pradesh, is experiencing severe cold.
The Meteorological Department has issued a cold wave warning in these states. At the same time, a heavy rain warning has been issued in South India. Heavy rain warning has been issued in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
Punjab weather
A new update has come out about the weather in Punjab. The Meteorological Department has released new information for the state till November 20. The department says that the day temperature in the state will neither increase nor decrease much during this period. The maximum temperature in districts like Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar etc. is expected to be between 24-26 degrees Celsius, while in other parts it is expected to be between 26-28 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, in some parts of Pathankot, Gurdaspur and Amritsar districts, the minimum night temperature is expected to be between 6-8 degrees Celsius, while in other parts of the state it is expected to be between 8-10 degrees Celsius.
Many parts of North India have already been gripped by severe cold. According to the Meteorological Department’s forecast, cold wave is likely to continue in most parts of Central India. The temperature in Kanpur (UP) reached 8.0°C, Pulbani (Odisha) 8.2°C, Sikar (Rajasthan) 6.0°C and Jalgaon (Maharashtra) 9.5°C.
Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha and Jharkhand have been affected by the cold wave. However, no cold warning has been issued for the eastern states. Punjab and Haryana are also reeling under the brunt of the cold wave. The minimum temperatures in Gurdaspur and Faridkot were recorded at 3.4 and 3.5 degrees Celsius respectively.
Temperature in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh
Cold conditions are similar in both western and eastern Madhya Pradesh. Severe cold wave conditions have been recorded in several districts. Temperatures at major places include Indore 8.2°C (7 degrees below normal), Shivpuri 8°C (6 degrees below normal), Naugaon 8°C (7 degrees below normal), Jabalpur 9.4°C (5 degrees below normal), Rewa 8.8°C (6 degrees below normal), and Khandwa 11°C (5 degrees below normal). Chhattisgarh is also gripped by a cold wave, extending from north to south. Raipur recorded 13°C (4.5 degrees below normal), Durg 10°C (7 degrees below normal), Ambikapur 7°C (6 degrees below normal), and Pendra 10°C (4.2 degrees below normal). This makes it clear that a cold wave warning has been issued in both the states as well as neighboring states.
The weather in the mountains is about to worsen. The Meteorological Department has issued a snowfall warning for the hill states. The Meteorological Department issued an alert on Friday, saying that there is a possibility of snowfall in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has also warned that there is a possibility of heavy snowfall in tourist places, especially Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu-Manali.
