The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a major warning for the next 12 hours. The department says that many parts of the country may receive torrential rains in the next few hours.
It has been raining continuously in the national capital Delhi since Tuesday morning. Heavy rains in many areas of the capital and NCR have made the weather pleasant. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that in the coming days, there will be heavy rain not only in Delhi but also in many other parts of the country. This will provide relief to people from heat and humidity, but problems like waterlogging and traffic jams may also arise.
Heavy rain alert issued for many states
The IMD has predicted heavy rains in Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, western Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Bihar and Odisha for the next few days. The department has issued an orange alert for many districts of these states. It has been said that there is a strong possibility of rain accompanied by lightning and thunder at some places.
Rain in Delhi, Chandigarh and Haryana for four days
The Meteorological Department has clarified that from Tuesday to Friday, many areas of Delhi, Chandigarh and Haryana will remain overcast and it will rain continuously. During this time, many places may receive more rainfall than normal. Weather experts say that this rain will further strengthen the pace of monsoon.
Red alert for Himachal and Punjab
IMD has issued a red alert for parts of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab. There is a risk of heavy rain and lightning in Himachal’s Chamba, Mandi and Kangra districts. Similarly, storm-like conditions can occur with heavy rain in Ludhiana, Sangrur, Barnala and Mansa districts of Punjab. The administration has appealed to the people to stay in safe places and remain alert.
Heavy rain in Mumbai and Maharashtra
Heavy rains lashed many parts of Mumbai on Monday, due to which the Gandhi Market area of Sion and the Eastern Express Highway were affected by waterlogging. The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert in Mumbai on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. There is also a possibility of heavy rains in Thane district for three consecutive days. On the other hand, light to moderate rains and thundershowers will continue in Pune for the next few days.
Delhi-NCR gets relief, rain will continue in future too
The afternoon rain in some parts of Delhi on Monday brought great relief to the people struggling with humidity. According to the Meteorological Department, 13 mm of rain has been recorded in Delhi in the last 24 hours. The IMD has clearly said that for the next four days, there will be rain with thunder and lightning in different areas of Delhi-NCR.
Heavy rain alert in many districts of Rajasthan
Good rain is expected in Rajasthan this week. The Meteorological Department said that heavy rains may occur in many parts of the state on Tuesday and Wednesday. Orange alert has been issued especially for Rajsamand, Sirohi and Udaipur districts. At the same time, yellow alert has been declared in about a dozen districts. The department has said that the rain will continue for the next two to three days and waterlogging may occur at many places.
