IMD High Alert! There will be very heavy rain in these 12 states in the next 18 hours

Monsoon has become active once again in India from today, due to which major changes are being seen in the weather. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning that in the coming days, many parts of the country may experience torrential rains, thunderstorms and lightning.

There is a danger of flood-like situations especially in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and northeastern states. People of these areas have been advised to remain alert and follow safety measures.

Cloudy and heavy rain alert in Delhi

The weather in the national capital Delhi continues to be bad. Today, i.e. on 22nd August, it is cloudy since morning and heavy rain is expected from afternoon to evening. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert and asked people to be cautious. There is also a possibility of lightning along with strong winds. During this time, traffic jams, waterlogging on roads and chaos in normal life can be seen.

Rainfall causes havoc in Uttar Pradesh

The situation is worsening due to heavy rains in many districts of Uttar Pradesh. Heavy rain alert has been issued today in more than 15 districts including Prayagraj, Jaunpur, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, Varanasi, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Bijnor, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Chitrakoot and Rampur. There is a danger of waterlogging, overflowing of rivers and streams and flood-like situations in these districts. The administration has appealed to the people to be cautious.

Continuous warning in Bihar

There is a warning of torrential rain in many districts of Bihar today, including Gaya, Nalanda, Darbhanga, Samastipur and Nawada. At the same time, the danger of thunderstorms and lightning has been reported to be high in East and West Champaran. The administration has advised to avoid going to open areas and stay in safe places.

Mountain danger in Uttarakhand and Himachal

In Uttarakhand, the Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in Bageshwar, Pithoragarh and Nainital districts. At the same time, there is a need to remain alert in districts like Almora, Chamoli and Rudraprayag. An alert for torrential rains has also been issued in Chamba, Kangra and Una districts of Himachal Pradesh. There is a danger of landslides, road blockages and rising water levels of rivers in these areas.

Impact in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh

Heavy rains have been predicted in Udaipur, Banswara and Pratapgarh districts of Rajasthan. Also, flood-like conditions have been warned in areas like Pali, Sirohi and Kota. In Madhya Pradesh, the weather is expected to be normal in most districts, but heavy rains are forecast in Neemuch, Mandsaur, Shivpuri and Morena districts.

Many areas of Gujarat submerged

Due to heavy rains, low lying areas have been submerged in water in many districts of Gujarat including Ahmedabad. Due to waterlogging in areas 25-30 km away, people are forced to leave their homes and take shelter in Dharamshalas and hotels. Strong winds and heavy rains have been warned in coastal areas for the next few days.

There is a risk of continuous rain in the northeastern states

The effect of monsoon is most visible in Northeast India. Continuous rain is predicted for the next one week in Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh. Situations like floods and landslides can arise here due to rising water levels of rivers.
