How To File ITR on New Income Tax Portal: Some time back the new website of Income Tax Department has been launched. In the initial days, people were very upset with the new website, but now most of the problems have been resolved. Meanwhile, the filing of income tax returns has also started. The method of filing income tax in the new website is quite different from the old website. However, filing income tax returns has also been made very easy in the new website. First of all you have to login to the new income tax website incometax.gov.in . For this, you will need your password along with Aadhaar or PAN number. As soon as you login, the first page that will open in front of you will see a message to file returns for the financial year ending 31 March 2021 i.e. assessment year 1 April 2021 – 31 March 2022. Here you have to click on File Now and it goes ahead.

On the next page you will be asked to choose the assessment year, in which you have to choose 2021-22 and click on the Continue button.

On the next page you will be asked whether you want to file tax return online or offline? You have to choose the online option and click on Proceed.

The next page will show the tax returns already saved in your draft. Along with this, it will also give the option that you can file a new return. Here you have to proceed by clicking on Start New Filing.

After this, the page that will open in front of you will be asked what is your status. In this, you will get the option of Individual, Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) and others. You have to select Individual option and click on Continue.

On the next page you will be asked which ITR form you have to fill. If you are a salaried person then you have to select ITR-1 and proceed further. If you fill any other form, then you can select it too, but here we are looking to fill ITR-1 form according to the employer, then after selecting ITR-1, you have to click on Proceed with ITR1.

On the next page you will be told that in the next step you have to validate the pre-filled details, confirm the return summary and then verify and submit the return. Here you have to proceed by clicking on Let’s Get Started.

After this, in the page that will open, you will be asked why you are filing income tax return. Here you will find some options, including the option of others. Click on the one you think is right and click on the Continue button.

Soon after this a message will come in front of you that some information has already been filled by the Income Tax Department, please confirm them.



After this, you have to open all the sections one by one and check their information. Somewhere you will also be asked some things, which you will have to fill in it. Salaried people will not have much problem here, because here most of the information will be already filled on the basis of his Form-16. In this, all the information including your salary, deductions and taxes will be shown on it, which you will have to confirm. After doing all this, you have to click on the Proceed button.

After this, the page that will open in front of you will get a complete summary of the information filled by you. You have to see it well and click on Preview Return.

On the next page, you will get the option to preview and submit your return. Here you will have to enter your name, father’s name and PAN number and tell that you are filing this return for yourself. After doing all this, you have to click on Proceed to Preview.

After doing this, the complete form of ITR will come in front of you, in which you will be able to see all your information. You can download or take a print out of this form if you want. After that go down in the form and click on Proceed to Validation.

If you have made any mistake in filling the complete ITR form, then you will see a list of those mistakes. Any mistake you click on, you will directly go to the wrong place and you will be able to rectify the mistake.

When you correct all your mistakes, you will get a message that your validation has been successful. After this you have to click on Proceed to verification and proceed further.



On the next page, you will get three options to verify ITR. The first will be e-verify Now, with the help of which you can verify your ITR with Aadhaar OTP, pre-validated bank account or pre-validated demat account. The second option will be e-Verify Later, in which you will get 120 days to do e-verify. The third option will be Verify via ITR-V, in which you will have to sign the ITR-V form and send it through speed post to the address given by the Income Tax Department in Bengaluru. Well, now very few people choose this option.

After doing that, your work is over. Your ITR filing process is over.
