State employees and pensioners of the state will get 3% dearness allowance and dearness relief (DA and DR) on the new year. The Finance Department has started preparing for it. The department has sent a proposal to the employees and pensioners to give DA and DR at an increased rate for the approval of the Chief Minister.

State employees and pensioners of Uttar Pradesh are to get dearness allowance and dearness relief at an increased rate of three percent from July 1. At present, they are being paid DA-DR at the rate of 28 per cent. With three per cent hike, it will increase to 31 per cent. The amount of increased DA arrears from July to November will go to the General Provident Fund (GPF) account of the employees. The cash payment of DA will be made to him in January along with the salary of December.

After the decision of the Central Government to increase the dearness allowance of central employees by three percent from July 1 last year, 16 lakh employees of the Uttar Pradesh government were also expecting more DA. It was believed that on the occasion of Diwali, the employees would be paid with bonus, but this could not happen. Now to make the employees happy in the election year, the state government is now going to give dearness allowance and dearness relief.
