Social commerce platform Meesho has made a big announcement for its employees. Under the new policy, the company will give 30 weeks of paid leave on the birth of a child. In a statement issued by Meesho, it has been said that the policy has been designed with a view to provide better experience to the employees. If a child is born at home, the company will give 30 weeks of leave to the parents who are working at home. The new policies also reflect emerging societal beliefs and work regardless of gender or sexual identities of employees, the statement said. Ensures discriminatory advantage.

The company has said that if its employee is the primary caregiver of the child, then he is eligible to take leave of up to one year. In this, 30 weeks leave with full salary and 25 percent of the salary for the remaining three months will be entitled to be paid.

There is no provision for paternity leave under the Indian labor law. However, under the Central Civil Services (Leave) Rules, 1972, male Government servants are entitled to paternity leave for 15 days before the delivery of the child or 6 months after the delivery.

Finland has seven months of parental leave, while Sweden has 480 days of paid leave. Although paternity leave is not a system or law in most countries, many large companies in the world offer parental leave of four to 16 weeks.
