There is a big good news for the students travelling in government buses. Making a big announcement on Sunday, Maharashtra Government’s Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik said that the State Transport Corporation will provide a large number of new buses this year for educational tours organised by schools and colleges.
Along with this, the Transport Minister has also announced a 50 percent discount in fares to the students going on educational tours. The Transport Minister said that the main objective of providing new buses for educational tours and giving 50 percent discount in fares to the students is to ensure economical and safe travel for the students.

Students will get 50% discount on fare for educational tours.
According to a statement issued by Sarnaik’s office, around 800 to 1000 new buses will be provided daily to schools and colleges from 251 depots of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC). Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik said, “MSRTC (Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation) will provide a large number of new buses to schools and colleges this year to ensure affordable and safe educational travel for students. Students eagerly wait for educational tours after the Diwali holidays and the state government will also support this by providing 50 percent discount on school trip fares.”
Maharashtra government provided 19,624 buses for students
According to the Transport Minister, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation provided 19,624 buses for educational trips from November 2024 to February this year, generating revenue of ₹92 crore for the state government. Pratap Sarnaik has directed depot managers and station chiefs to coordinate with educational institutions for the year 2025-26. He said, “Depot chiefs and station officers will meet school and college principals to encourage them to plan trips to major historical and religious sites in the state.”
