You can also arrange for pension after retirement through the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan (PM-SYM) scheme of the Central Government. However, there are some important conditions of the scheme as well.

What is the scheme: It is a voluntary pension scheme. In this scheme, the workers of the unorganized sector get the benefit of monthly pension of Rs 3 thousand through a nominal investment. This benefit of pension will be available only after the age of 60 years. If the person making the investment dies, the spouse of the beneficiary gets 50 per cent of the total monthly pension amount. Family pension is applicable only to the spouse.

These are the conditions: This pension scheme of the Central Government is only for the workers of the unorganized sector. The monthly income of the worker is 15 thousand or less. Only those people whose age is between 18 to 40 years can invest in the scheme.


At the same time, a minimum of Rs 55 and a maximum of Rs 200 can be invested per month. Employees in the unorganized sector making investments are required to have Aadhar Card and Savings Bank Account/Jan Dhan Account Number with IFSC. Employees working in organized sector (members of EPFO/NPS/ESIC) cannot be included in this scheme. This scheme is not even for an income tax payer.
