Washington, Agency.  63 million doses of hydroxychloroquine sulfate (HCQ) have been abandoned after the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) withdrew its approval for the use of anti-malarial drugs in the treatment of corona virus-infected patients.

FDA revoked its order

In a recent report, the FDA has revoked its order regarding the emergency use of hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine for the treatment of corona virus patients. This step was taken after the conclusion that anti-malarial drugs are not effective for curing virus infection. The FDA has stated that its decision is based on new information, including test data results. It concludes that drugs for the treatment of corona epidemics may not be effective and its potential benefits for such use cannot overcome its known and potential risks.

Anti-malarial medication has serious side effects on corona patients

The FDA said in a statement that anti-malarial drugs have serious side effects on corona patients. It should be withdrawn from treatment. The FDA further stated that the decision to repeal this test is appropriate, because its results endanger the health and safety of the American public. Let us know that in late March the US government started stock of HCQ specifically for the treatment of corona virus patients. On 16 June, the FDA banned the use of an anti-malarial drug used for the corona virus and quashed its earlier decision.

FDA first approves HCQ and later supports Remedisvir

Significantly, the FDA first approved the use of the hydroxychloroquine drug to treat patients with the corona epidemic. Subsequently, on 2 May, the use of the anti-viral drug Remadecivir was approved for the treatment of corona patients. The FDA stated that those who were given Remedesivir were discharged from the hospital on an average of 11 days. Anthony Fossey of the National Institutes of Health stated that the drug would be effective in treating patients with the critically ill corona virus. This medicine has not yet been used on moderately ill patients.
