Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has launched a provision in its member portal for retired employees to apply for higher pension as per the Supreme Court judgment on higher provident fund pension.
The application form for the employees whose applications were rejected earlier is available through the portal link. Those who have retired before 1st September 2014 can apply for pension. They have time till March 3 to submit the application.
On December 29, 2022, the EPFO published its inaugural order to implement the Supreme Court’s judgment, which was granted on November 4, 2022.
An EPFO decision was published on Thursday, stating that applicants whose petitions were rejected earlier had the option of higher pension. This decision was taken in the light of the RC Gupta vs Regional Provident Fund case (2016).
An option in the portal states, ‘In compliance with the direction contained in para 44 (ix) of the judgment (in case of retirement before 01.09.2014), an online facility for filing application for verification of option integrated portal member Available on the interface.
