Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has given relief to the EPF subscribers on the demand of CBT members. Now the requirement of e-nomination in claims of Covid and Illness Advance has been done away with. EPF members will be able to download the EPF passbook along with filling the online claim form for such advance.
Due to the compulsion of e-nomination, the claims settlement of EPF members were stopped. Thousands of members were not even able to do e-nomination due to the difference in the name of the nominee and the date of birth. Corrections were getting rejected due to discrepancy between Aadhar card and record. The e-nomination of members was being accepted only after the correction was done.
CBT members raised the issue that appointment letters were being sought from members in e-nomination. The file was getting canceled even with the slightest difference of name in it and Aadhaar. Due to continuous complaints, EPFO has done away with the requirement of e-nomination only for self and family illness and Covid advance claim.
EPFO board member Sukhdev Prasad Mishra says that till now, those who have not been e-nomination, their claims of illness and Covid advance were not being accepted. Now their claims will be settled. Time constraint has been removed in e-nomination in claims, but this compulsion should also be abolished in advance claims for house construction, children’s education, son-daughter marriage.
Rohit Kanojia of India Thermit, EPF member, says that he has made three claims from the EPF account, each time it got canceled. Before e-nomination, the details of the nominee have to be rectified, that too is not happening. Without it the e-nomination is also not being filed. However, now you will be able to take advance of the disease.
At the same time, Jitu Singh, EPF member, R Courier Service, says that after the second wave of Corona, the claims were getting canceled as there was no e-nomination. Got stuck due to lack of uniformity in the base of the nominee and the original file. Now at least the claims will be received for the disease.
What do they have to say
- The imperative of e-nomination has kept you stuck. Without this, no claim is being settled. The compulsion should be abolished in all claims of advance. First the Aadhaar has to be amended, only then anything will happen.
