EPF makes big announcement! Now you will not have to submit any document to withdraw money, know details

EPFO: If you are planning to withdraw money from your Provident Fund (EPF) account, then there is good news for you. Now no document will be required to withdraw money from EPFO. The central government has given clear information about this in the Parliament and this rule is already in force.

Now only self declaration is enough

In response to a question asked in Parliament, the Ministry of Labor and Employment said that if EPFO members want to withdraw money for needs like education, marriage, buying a house, illness or emergency, then they will no longer have to submit any document. Money can be withdrawn only on the basis of self-declaration.

MPs raised questions

Lok Sabha MPs Vijaykumar Vijay Vasanth, Manickam Tagore B and Suresh Kumar Shetkar had raised the question as to why the EPFO has started relying solely on self-declaration of employees for partial withdrawal? To this, the government replied that this step has been taken to make the process easy, transparent and reliable.

The process started in 2017

The government said that this change was implemented through the composite claim form introduced in 2017. Under this, EPFO simplified the process of partial and final withdrawal and relied on self-declaration of members by eliminating the need for documents.

Problems related to banks will also be solved

Many times the claims of the members were rejected because they uploaded poor quality photos of the bank passbook or cheque. Now this problem has also been resolved. The requirement to upload the image of the cheque or passbook has been removed from April 3, 2025. This has reduced the problems faced in KYC or bank account verification to a great extent.

More than 1.9 crore people got benefit

The government said that more than 1.9 crore EPF members have benefited from this new process since July 22, 2025. This change is an important step towards making EPFO claims simple and reliable.
