New Delhi. According to media reports, those who fail their Permanent Driving License (DL) test in Delhi may soon get access to video recordings of their performance in the test. This will help people to watch the video and see what they have done wrong. Due to the high failure rate on the city’s automated test tracks, the state transport department is working on a plan to offer video (DL) of the driving test of candidates in case they fail.

A senior transport official said that “many Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) have told us that examinees often want a copy of their footage”. Mostly to understand where they have gone wrong, so that they can improve their driving skills.

The official said that every driving test for a permanent license in Delhi is videographed as per the court’s order. He explained, “We are checking the legality of making it available to the applicant. This service can also be provided to the applicants as a strict on-request facility.

Driving tests were conducted on the main road with normal traffic before the opening of the automated track. In those tests, the applicant had to drive straight for less than a kilometer and was supervised by a motor licensing inspector. The decision of the Licensing Inspector on the test result was final. But with the new test format, the Licensing Inspector oversees the test, then takes a print-out of the result and signs it.
