Digital Life Certificate: The main reasons for Digital Life Certificate rejection are incorrect or inconsistent personal information, such as Aadhaar number, PPO number, or pension account number.
Additionally, poor fingerprint or iris scan quality can also lead to rejection. Every year in November, millions of pensioners submit their Digital Life Certificate (DLC), which is required to prove their survival. During this process, a pensioner’s DLC is sometimes rejected, which can hinder pension receipt. Rejections are typically due to incorrect or incomplete information, errors in the Aadhaar number or pension account number, or poor fingerprint/iris scan quality.
To submit a digital life certificate, pensioners must use UIDAI-issued biometric devices, which connect a fingerprint reader to a smartphone to perform the transaction. Using this device requires an OTG cable and utmost care must be taken to ensure the biometric data is recorded correctly.
If your life certificate is rejected, first contact your pension disbursing agency. It’s important to find out the reason by speaking with your bank, post office, or the relevant pension officer. Then, update the correct information and biometrics to have a new certificate issued. This process can also be completed from home using the Jeevan Pramaan portal or the Jeevan Pramaan app.
The Digital Life Certificate is valid for one year and must be submitted on time every year. If a pensioner has re-employed or remarried, they cannot generate a Life Certificate. Therefore, it is important to periodically check the status of your DLC and have any issues corrected immediately.
The government’s Digital Life Certificate scheme aims to make this process easy, fast, and secure for pensioners, ensuring no disruptions in pension payments. Pensioners are advised to submit their Life Certificates as early as possible during the busy November season to avoid disruptions in pension credits.
