Delhi-NCR Weather: Heavy rains drenched Delhi due to heat, two more days of rain expected

Delhi’s Standard Observatory Safdarjung recorded the day’s maximum temperature at 36.9 degrees Celsius on Thursday, which is three notches below normal. At the same time, the minimum temperature was 22.6 degree Celsius.

Due to the scorching heat, Delhi-NCR was drenched by heavy rains on Thursday evening. The weather turned cold due to heavy showers in many areas. However, earlier in the afternoon it was scorching hot due to strong sunlight. The Meteorological Department has forecast that it may rain on Friday and Saturday as well.

Several parts of the capital started witnessing showers accompanied by dusty winds in the evening. Light to moderate rain occurred in all parts including Uttam Nagar, Dwarka, Palam, Connaught Place, Asiad Village. Due to this, the weather of Delhi became pleasant. Earlier, in most parts of the capital Delhi, there was movement of clouds in the midst of strong sunlight since Thursday morning. However, due to drizzle and rain in the surrounding areas, the temperature did not rise much. The day’s maximum temperature at Safdarjung, Delhi’s standard observatory, was recorded at 36.9 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal. At the same time, the minimum temperature was 22.6 degree Celsius.

The weather will be kind for the remaining days of May

In the capital on Thursday evening, there were heavy showers in many areas of Delhi along with thunderstorms. Due to this the weather turned cold. The months of May and June are the hottest in Delhi, but this time due to western disturbances, the temperature in the month of May has been below normal.
