Delhi Mumbai Expressway: Delhi to Mumbai in just 13 hours, can get another gift with rapid rail

New Delhi, Online Desk. Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: Delhi-NCR can also get the gift of 1261 km long Delhi-Mumbai Expressway with Rapid Rail Metro in 2023-23, if work is completed on time. After this, the journey from Mumbai via Delhi-NCR will be completed in just 13 hours. Actually, the work of 1261 km Delhi-Mumbai Expressway from Delhi to Mumbai is going on continuously. The progress in the construction work can be gauged from the fact that at present the work on 497 km of expressway is going on fast. With this, a tender has been issued to start work on another part of 162 km, it is believed that construction work will be expedited on completion of the paperwork. Another progress has been made in the construction, under which the work of tedder process is going on for the remaining 569 km.

150 km journey between Delhi and Mumbai will be reduced

According to experts, the construction of 1261 km long expressway between Delhi-Mumbai will reduce the distance by 150 km, while the travel time will be reduced by 11 hours. Currently, it takes 24 hours to travel between Delhi and Mumbai via vehicle. As soon as the expressway is built, this journey will be reduced to just 13 hours. Explain that this 8-lane expressway is being constructed through the Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) route.



A total of Rs 1 lakh crore crore is being spent on the construction of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. For this, Rs 50,000 crore will be raised through Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV). Recently, this scheme has got the approval of the Ministry of Finance. The format of this model will be finalized by the end of July this year. A Merchant Banker will be appointed for this work.

Expressway may be built in 2023-24

Explain that the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is under construction under the first phase of the Bharatmala project. Work on this scheme started 3 years ago i.e. from 2017 and it was to be completed by the year 2022. It is a different matter that the expressway can be ready by 2023-24, due to being behind 2 years.

Learn the benefits of this expressway

  • The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway passing through Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra will facilitate connectivity of Jaipur, Kota, Chittorgarh, Indore, Ujjain, Bhopal, Ahmedabad and Vadodara.
  • Freight from expressway will be reduced by around 8-9%
  • Reduction of distance, time and consumption of oil will also save foreign exchange
  • There will be controlled access to the corridor. A network of 75 aminities is planned to be built either way, which will be at a distance of 50 km
  • The government plans to expand this eight-lane expressway to 12 lanes in the future.
  • Along with Delhi, UP and a dozen cities and Haryana will also benefit from the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
