DA Hike : The Haryana government has given a major gift to state employees and pensioners. The government has announced an increase in dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) from 55% to 58%. This increase will be effective from July 1, 2025.

Haryana government’s decision

According to an order issued by the Finance Department, all employees and pensioners receiving salary or pension as per the Seventh Pay Commission will now benefit from 58% DA and DR from July 1, 2025. The letter issued by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi states that this increased DA will be added to the salary and pension for October, while the arrears from July to September 2025 will be paid in November.

Central government and other states increased DA

Prior to Haryana, the central government also decided to increase DA for its employees by 3%, raising the rate from 55% to 58%. This increase is effective from July 1, 2025. Following the central government, several state governments have also provided relief to their employees.

Uttar Pradesh

The Uttar Pradesh government has increased the DA by 3% for employees and pensioners. They will now receive 58% DA. This increase will be effective from July 1, 2025. This decision will benefit approximately 2.8 million employees and pensioners. The state government will incur an additional burden of approximately ₹1,960 crore.

Bihar

The Bihar government also approved a 3% DA increase in its cabinet meeting. Now, all government employees and pensioners in the state will receive 58% DA. This increase will also be effective from July 1st.

Rajasthan

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has also approved a 3% increase in the DA for employees. Now, Rajasthan government employees will also receive a 58% DA.

Karnataka

The Karnataka government has provided relief to employees ahead of Diwali by increasing their DA from 12.25% to 14.25%, effective July 1st.

Arunachal Pradesh

Arunachal Pradesh has also increased its DA from 55% to 58% following the central government’s decision. Chief Minister Pema Khandu said this will provide relief to thousands of employees and pensioners. DA, or dearness allowance, is provided by the government to its employees and pensioners to mitigate the impact of rising inflation on their salaries. It is calculated based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI-IW), which is released monthly by the Labor Bureau.
