7th Pay Commission Latest Update: After the Centre, now states have also started increasing the dearness allowance i.e. DA of their employees. In this series, the Haryana government has announced a 4% increase in the dearness allowance for state employees and dearness relief allowance for pensioners. With this, dearness allowance and dearness relief of government employees in the state will increase to 50%.

What did the state government do?

The state government said in a statement that after the revision in the rate, dearness allowance has been increased from 46 percent to 50 percent. The new rate will be effective from January 1, 2024. According to the statement, ‘Government employees will start receiving increased DA with their salary of March 2024. Along with this, the outstanding payment for the months of January and February will be made in the month of May.

Along with this, the state government has also issued orders to provide dearness relief (DR) to its pensioners and family pensioners from January 1, 2024. They will also be paid DR along with their March 2024 pension/family pension payable in April, 2024 and the arrears of January and February will be paid in the month of May.

Center also increased by 4 percent

Earlier, the Central Government announced a four percent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) of its employees and Dearness Relief (DR) of pensioners. Under this, the basic salary/pension has been increased by 4 percent from the rate of 46 percent. Now the allowance of central employees has also increased to 50 percent. According to the government, the combined impact on the exchequer due to both dearness allowance and dearness relief will be Rs 12,868.72 crore per year. This will benefit about 49.18 lakh central government employees and 67.95 lakh pensioners.
